With
research showing that 80%+ of homebuilding and remodeling decisions
are made by women, Design Basics recognized that a magazine focusing
on women's perspectives on design, construction and products for the
home (as opposed to decorating, lifestyle, cooking, etc.) would be
unique in the marketplace.
It didn't take long for the vision to become concrete. In a world
where most architects, engineers and designers, most builders,
and most of the tradespeople working in residential construction
are men, homes
were, for the most part unintentionally, male-centered. The publication
name, Her Home, was finalized, signaling its uncompromised mission:
giving women the information and tools to make informed decisions
when building
a new home or remodeling their present home.
Her Home magazine was launched and expanded to include insights
from women homebuilders, industry experts, and feedback from our
readers.
Utilizing smart, fresh layouts and plenty of beautiful photography,
each article is written with practical, take-away value. There
is a need for
this type of women's magazine, and Her Home magazine works hard
to fill that need.
This web presence was established, where the library of Her Home
Magazine articles and resources are available 24/7/365. Responding
to home owner and home buyer feedback regarding issues women regret/wish
they had known about/wish the contractor had told them about prior
to
signing their purchase Agreement, in 2011 we introduced Her Home
Thought of the Day. These short, educational e-mails are sent three
times weekly
to help consumers make wise, informed decisions regarding their
home, its design and the products featured in the home.
