For example, if entertaining is most important, followed by storage; then, click the circle under "Most" for Entertaining, and a circle one or two spots to the left of "Most" for Storage. Note: If only one or two lenses are important to you, you don't have to rate all four lenses to get results.

Why Are People Choosing New Home Plans?

Home buyer preferences continue to evolve and new house plans feature the latest and greatest home design concepts, making them extremely desirable for those looking to build their dream home. They're available in many design styles and are completely customizable to fit the buyer’s specific needs.

Design Basics strives to regularly add new house plans showcasing the newest design thought, perhaps even introducing you to amenities that solve the issues you’re wanting to address en route to finding the plan that’s “just right”!

Characteristics of a New Home Plan

Our new home plans feature some of today's most desired amenities.
Here are some of the trends we include in our new home plans based on today's design trends.

Wider Doorways

If you've ever been hobbled with a broken leg, tried moving large furniture, or you use a wheelchair or an electric mobility device, then you've likely experienced the frustration of those skinny 24- to 28-inch-wide interior passage doors. Our new plans are designed with 32-inch-wide doors as our standard, which also contribute to a feeling of spaciousness in the home.

Rear Foyer Entries from the Garage

Nine times out of ten, you enter and exit your home through its attached garage. Just as the front entry foyer is something special, in new home plans we pay just as much attention to the design of this very important transition space!

31015 Wilen. Unit A: 1467 Sq Ft - 35'-0" | Unit B: 1467 Sq Ft - 35'-0" | 3 Bed | 3 Bath | 2 Story | Garage Spaces 2 | Width: 70'-0" Depth: 38'-0"

Value Engineered

Balancing livability and aesthetics with costs is the goal of value engineering. Most of our new home plans are value-engineered, utilizing standard-size building materials, minimal foundation jogs, streamlined structural systems, and other measures contributing to affordability without sacrificing style.
