It is with great pride that I have accepted the position of President of Design Basics, LLC. Since joining the Design Basics team in the fall of 2013, I have worn several hats such as the Assistant Controller and Vice President of Operations. Combined with my experience in accounting, finance, and office management, as well as having been a small business owner, I am excited for this opportunity to lead and foster growth, both internally and with our customers, of the Design Basics brand.
As I reflect back on 2015, I am pleased with the progress Design Basics has made towards adding to our 1,500+ collection of home plans as well as building our brand by designing unique, well sought-after home plans, providing exceptional customer service, and fostering growth of our Woman-Centric Matters!℠ program. In addition, I am thankful for our customers and their continued input and support. Not only is their feedback and recommendations important to our design process, but many new ideas arise from customers working with our Plan Specialists. And, we can’t forget our customer referrals!
This year is already off to a great start with the Design Basics’ team exhibiting at the NAHB International Builder’s Show that took place January 19-21, in Las Vegas. Our booth was hopping with visitors, many of which took advantage of our Show Special – a FREE home plan for builders! We were also recognized as one of just a handful of companies that has consistently exhibited for the last 25+ years. We can’t wait to do it all again next January in Orlando!
The weekend before IBS, Paul Foresman, VP of Business Development, and I presented at the Valley Women’s Expo in Fargo, North Dakota, with two sessions centered around our exclusive Woman-Centric Matters!℠ program. Builders in this program have had great success over the past year with selling more homes – and, I don’t mean just more homes, but MORE homes than market predictions! We are excited about further developing this program in 2016 to offer our current builders additional benefits as well as adding new builders in untapped areas.
If you enjoy surfing the web or interacting on social media, you may have noticed a stronger presence of Design Basics on several platforms (and, if you haven’t, check us out!), actively sharing information on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to name a few as well as a blog on our website. We have also begun revamping our newsletters and email communications to make them more user-friendly for mobile devices. And, slated for 2016 is a new and improved website with even greater plan search functionality and easy-to-navigate pages for finding important information quickly.
Most importantly, our designers have been working diligently to incorporate more unique, yet very useful, amenities into our plans. Some of our favorite new design concepts are the Signature Space™, Pocket Office, and Chill ‘n Grill. Additionally, multiple owner’s suites, the family lounge, and Casitas top the list of brilliant design additions to our plans.
I am looking forward to what 2016, and beyond, has in store for Design Basics and the housing industry. With our experienced team – many with over 20 years’ tenure – we are well-positioned to help you find the perfect plan OR work with our plan alterations team to build your dream home. You can count on the Design Basics team to deliver innovation and leadership through creative home design, marketing, and business transformation solutions. Design Basics…where great design matters.
