plans. The library also includes larger informal looking
home plan designs. Cottage home plans are typically traditionally
styled, economical to build, smaller floor plans. However, these cottage
home plans include many larger home plans. Cottage plans are more
often one story or ranch designs or 2 story designs with the owner's suite
on the main level. They are often designed to serve
as second homes, although there are many year round cottage plans in
this collection.
Picturesque dormers, arched doorways,
gables, quaint porches and steep rooflines are just some of the
features encompassing this library of cottage style home designs.
Based on the principles for using traditional materials
and handicraft of local workmanship, our Cottage style house
plans feature overhanging eaves, a low-slung gabled roof, and wide front
porches framed by
pedestal-like, tapered columns. Materials often include stone,
rough-hewn wood, and
stucco. Many designs have wide front porches across part of the
front, supported by columns.
