Two story home
plans ( those 2 level home plans where the master bedroom and
other secondary bedrooms are located on the upper level ) can
be the most economical type of homes to build. Typically each level
from
the foundation, main level, upper level and the roof are 'stacked'
(see example below). In terms of total square
feet, the 'footprint' of two story home plans are typically
smaller than a similarly sized ranch /1 story plans or 2 level plans
with the master bedroom
on the
main level.
Additionally, with lot sizes getting smaller and prices bouncing all over the place, two story homes can be easier to place on your lot and still give you the design features you want in your new home.
In our two story home plans, the stairway often becomes the focal point of the entry / front foyer. However, many of our designs de-emphasize the location of the stair way and we've placed it out of the front entry.
