Over the last year, Design Basics , has been hosting think tanks, where individuals from the building industry come together to share ideas and insights on the latest trends in new homes. As a practical application, the attendees break into groups to redesign a popular home plan to suit their tastes or current markets.

This Home Plan Makeover is the result of one of these groups, whose members are profiled below. They were handed copies of the Paterson 1380, shown at left. With the help of one of Design Basics’ designers, they changed it into the Peony 42038. To allow you to follow the changes, the women ’s requests are highlighted in 10 numbers which correspond with the completed floor plan at right.

Meet The Women
JOANNE SHARPLES took over Quality Construction of Omaha, Nebraska, when her husband retired. Since she also has her real estate license, she sells homes when she is not building them. JoAnne enjoys showing dogs, wintering in Mexico, sculpting and redesigning floor plans. She and her husband have four sons.	PATRICA PARLEE is in partnership with her husband in their firm, Parlee Builders in Urbandale, Iowa. Patricia is also a CPA, enjoys the company of their five grandchildren and is very involved with her church. Two more grandchildren are on the way.	MICHELLE CHIRPICH and her husband have three daughters. Michelle does a great deal of volunteer work in her daughters’ school. She has a real estate license, enjoys scrapbooking and reading and is a big Missouri Tiger fan. She also assists her husband at Chirpich Brothers Construction in Gladstone, Missouri.
PAMELA GASPERS does administrative work for her husband’s company, John Gaspers Construction, in Hastings, Nebraska, and helps with the painting and staining in the homes they build. She really enjoys cooking and spending time with their three children.	CHERYL OSBORNE is an assistant vice president of a bank and co-owns Marko Construction in Raymore, Missouri, with her husband. She enjoys spending time with her family and going four wheeling with her husband.
