Last summer's Home-A-Rama in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania brought Custer Homes, Inc., some enviable publicity. Their entry, Design Basics , Fairchild, #2733-33A-01, won "Best of Show", plus seven other awards. To top it off, the Sales and Marketing Council of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg named it "Best Custom Home of the Year Over $500,000" during their parade in June of this year.

"We use our awards to reinforce our credibility as a top-quality custom builder," comments Custer Homes president, Stan Custer. "Our sales and marketing manager runs newspaper ads and does a flier highlighting our awards. We also send out a letter congratulating and thanking the trades and vendors who were a part of our success."

Stan has always believed in the value of home parades. As president of the local home builders association, he was responsible for bringing the Home-A-Rama to his area ten years ago. He has participated in every event since then. "Entering a parade shows you 're proud of your product," he says. "It's a great way to showcase your abilities and have the public judge you against the competition."

Fairchild
Stan Custer's Fairchild offer luxurious settings for work or relaxation.

Operations Manager Nicole Fleming, who was in the Fairchild during much of the Home-A-Rama, comments on why the home was so well received: "People often stood in the kitchen and looked into the family room and breakfast area and said, 'This is such a great space. It's so functional because whoever is cooking can be close to the family." They also liked the way the master suite was separated from the rest of the house. And of course, the stone and Dryvit® exterior was very tasteful and elegant."
